The Rensford Plan, Luxury in a Craftsman

The Rensford Plan, Luxury in a Craftsman by Living Concepts, is a spacious home (7502 square feet) with a basement, first and second floor. The home is packed with necessities and extras. Kind of like your carry-on when you fly.

The two-car garage is offset and on the right. Another garage is at basement level. Stone and stucco, along with the tapered columns, create a cottage feel. The loggia or front porch opens up into the foyer. On the right, there is also an entrance into the home. Let’s explore the basement.

   The Basement

First, from the stairs, there is a powder room straight ahead. On the left, a closet is tucked under the stairs. Then, further left, there is a room for mechanical storage. It opens up into the basement garage. Walking counterclockwise, there is a dedicated space for a workshop. A door on the left opens up to the outside, while one on the right brings you back inside the home. A small reach-in closet is here, too.

Then, on your left is the exercise room. It has a walk-in closet and a full bath with a shower, single sink and toilet. Yes, this could be another bedroom. The bathroom has a door that opens up into the porch.

On both the left and right sides of the basement, you will find pergolas, outdoor structures that are open, with rafters above. Next, the exercise room opens up into the pergola on the left and the covered terrace on the right. The rear elevation below demonstrates best the pergolas and covered terrace.

   The Rest of the Basement

Finally, from the covered terrace, you step into the recreation room. A fireplace anchors one wall, with shelving on both sides. This room opens up into the billiards room. A wet bar with seating is on the far-right wall. It also includes a place for your wine fridge, and can be as elegant as you wish, as seen below.

    The First Floor

First, as soon as you arrive upstairs, the walk-in pantry is straight ahead. To the right is the butler’s pantry. This is where you can keep the dishes and serving platters when you decide to eat in the more formal dining room, which is adjacent to both aforementioned rooms. To your left, there is the laundry room. It has space for a utility sink. Across from the laundry, there is a powder room. Access to the two-car garage is to the left also.

The dining room also faces a beautiful spiral staircase, as seen below. (I did mention luxury, right?).

Then, on your right is the kitchen, morning room and office. The kitchen has a large, nearly rectangular island with a double sink and a place for your dishwasher.

   More of the First Floor

The office is to the right of the kitchen. The morning room faces the back of the home. It has a door that leads onto the covered terrace. Both the kitchen and morning rooms are open to the gathering room. It has a fireplace on the far wall with options for shelving on both sides (always say yes to shelves!).

And Still More of the First Floor

Next, the study is to the left of the foyer. It has a walk-in closet and its own bath with tub/shower, single sink and toilet. Then, the master suite consumes almost all of the left side of the Rensford. The master suite’s sleeping area is at the back of the home.

Then, there is a large (luxurious) walk-in closet that even has an island. Finally, walking towards the front of the home, you enter the master bath. Its unusual shape allows for the strategic placement of two sinks, a soaking tub, walk-in shower and an enclosed toilet.

   The Second Floor

First, there are two staircases that will take you to the second floor. One is to the left of the foyer. The other is near the first-level garage. Once upstairs and turning right (from the right side of this floor), you enter the study loft.

Next, there are three bedrooms. Suite #4 has a walk-in closet and its own bath. There is a shower/tub, single sink and toilet. Suites #2 and #3 share a bathroom. This is called a Jack and Jill bath, which means it is accessible by both bedrooms. There is a (shared) tub/shower, yet each suite has its own sink and toilet. Finally, suite #3 has a walk-in closet while suite #2 has two reach-in closets.
