The Othello Home Plan

The Othello Home Plan by Living Concepts has four bedrooms, four full baths and one half-bath or powder room. In its nearly 4000 square feet (3938, in fact), this European home plan, like the Tarrington, has stone and stucco on the exterior.

A two-car garage is on the left.  The two-story home has board and batten shutters. (The battens are the horizontal boards that anchor the vertical boards. Length and width of these shutters can vary, according to the owner’s desires). A steep roof, an arched entrance and window all contribute to the European facade.

    Left Side, First Floor

From the garage, you step up into a short hallway. On your left, a counter or mud bench (your home, your choice!) followed by a reach-in closet will help to keep you organized. And have a clean(er) floor. Shoes off, everybody! Then, the laundry room, also on the left, is large enough for a utility sink, as well as major laundry appliances. Next, adjacent to the laundry room, the walk-in pantry will be your favorite chef’s tool. Even more than your Le Creuset.

The office is tucked between the pantry and the kitchen. A built-in desk in the office saves room for the chair that will support you best. Next, the kitchen and breakfast rooms complete the left side of the home. Inside the kitchen, a long island houses the dishwasher, a double sink, and also provides room for seating. The breakfast room is at the end of this open area.

From the portico, or porch, you step into the foyer. On your left, the formal dining room encourages those fancy dinners which are celebratory. Or for your everyday meals! On the far right, stairs go up to the second floor. A reach-in closet is right next to the stairs.

Then, straight ahead is the gallery or hall, which runs from left to right. At the far-right end of the gallery, a powder room is placed adjacent to the master suite. The family room, open to the gallery as well as the kitchen, has its own fireplace. A door on the left of the fireplace opens onto the covered lanai.

Master Suite and Bath, Right Side

First, the covered lanai, as mentioned above, has a door on its right into the master suite. At almost 300 square feet, the master suite is like a blank slate. Where to put the bed? The dresser? The reading chair? Then, walking towards the front of the home, you are in the master bath. Inside, there are two closets to hold bathroom essentials. A soaking tub, a walk-in shower, enclosed toilet and two sinks complete the bath. Finally, the walk-in closet is at the end of the master bath.

Upstairs, the loft is a perfect space for a big comfy chair and a low bookshelf. A reach-in closet is nearby, as well as counter space. The recreation room faces the backyard. It’s another room with counter space or cabinets that you can tailor to your own needs. Then, there are three bedroom suites upstairs. Each bedroom has its own walk-in closet. Additionally, each has its own bath with a single sink, a toilet, and a bathtub/shower combination.
