The holidays are over. Kids have gone back to school/college. Guests have wandered back to their own homesteads. Now, aren’t you glad you have that bonus room? And if it isn’t in your current house, now is the time to look for a plan that includes one. The Hendren – Open Floor Plan with Bonus Room might be your next project. It’s that just-right size, too. An open floor plan with bonus room- now that’s a great idea!
The Hendren- Open Floor Plan with Bonus Room
The Front and First Floor
This is a traditional two-story home with an open floor plan and 2461 square feet. There are three bedrooms, two full baths and one powder room. On the outside, you will find horizontal siding and cedar shakes. The front porch is slightly offset to the left. You still have plenty of room, though, for a rocker and side table. The two-car garage is at the rear of the home.
First, the garage, located at the back of the house, has two doors that open up into the first floor. The door on the left takes you to a staircase going up (one of two). Then, the door on the right opens onto the terrace. Ah, soon it will be time to sit outside with your favorite beverage and book to enjoy the sunshine!
Back inside, we walk past the stairs and a reach-in closet. We are in the breakfast room. A banquette (an upholstered bench for seating) is on your left. Directly across this bench, a door opens up onto your terrace. Next, the breakfast room flows into the kitchen. On the left, a desk is built in. Then, countertops flank the oven. An island with seating on one side also has a place for your dishwasher and double sink. Finally, the kitchen pantry is found in the left corner of the kitchen.

The Front and First Floor
The open floor plan continues into the great room, which occupies the right side of the Hendren. A fireplace on the outside wall has a niche on the left side. Then, walking towards the front of the home, the second set of stairs are on your right, with a reach-in closet right afterwards.
The foyer is nearby; this area includes the powder room on the right, also. Next, on the left side and walking towards the front, there is the laundry room. Finally, the dining room occupies the front corner of the home.

The Second Floor
First, and upstairs, there is the master suite and two other bedroom suites. The bonus room is at the back of the second floor. It is accessible only by the stairs at the garage. This large room, more than 400 square feet, is loaded with possibilities. Since it is above the garage, it can be the noisiest room of the house. A media room where you can yell (large screen TV, sports) or sit quietly watching your favorite series is one idea. A billiards table would fit nicely in here, too.
Then, using the stairs that are at the front of the house, you go up and enter a small foyer. Straight ahead are two niches, places to display favorite treasures. Next, a full bath is on your right. It is shared by suites #2 and #3 and includes a linen closet, toilet, two sinks and a soaking tub or tub/shower combination. Both bedroom suites have walk-in closets and share a closet between them. This could be for overflow of bathroom linens.
Finally, the master suite is upstairs, also. It is to the left of the staircase and includes a large walk-in closet adjacent to the sleeping area. The master bath has two single sinks, an enclosed toilet, soaking tub and a walk-in shower.
