The Cabernet Plan, English Country

The Cabernet Plan, English Country, is a one-story home with a basement. Designed by Living Concepts perhaps this home is meant just for you. The plan is perfect for land that slopes from the basement. Architects call this a daylight basement, as the basement is open on three sides, allowing light to filter in. The home has three bedrooms, three full baths, and one powder room in 2545 square feet. The two-car garage is on the left side.

On the outside, the Old-World design is evidenced by the decorative use of wood beams. Stone and stucco, plus the arched garage doors and the entranceway, help to complete the look.

   Exploring the Basement

First, the basement has two bedroom suites, each having its own bath. Suite #2 is on the left side. It has a walk-in closet. In the bath, you will find a sink, toilet and a walk-in shower. Nearby, there is a linen closet and mechanical storage. Next, suite #3 is on the right side. It also has a walk-in closet. Its bath, however, has a bathtub/shower combination. Another storage room is nearby, too. Both bedrooms have a door that goes out onto the lanai.

Then, the wet bar is right next to the stairs. Your wine closet is tucked under the stairs. There is an island adjacent to the closet, with a sink. The counter to the right is for your (under-the counter) fridge. The bar and recreation room are open to each other. There is a fireplace on the right side with space on its left side for shelving. Finally, the covered lanai invites you to step outside and enjoy your backyard.

   The First Floor, Garage Entry

First, as stated before, the garage is on the left side of the home. Between the garage and the main living area of the home, you will find a storage area on your right with a door. That means this can be a secure area to lock away power tools or other valuables out of sight. Then, once inside, the laundry room is on your right. Spaces for your washer and dryer as well as a utility sink will make cleaning and folding laundry less of a chore.

A reach-in closet is on your left, as well as counters conveniently placed. Next, the dining area and kitchen flow into each other. Inside the kitchen, an island holds your double sink and dishwasher. It also provides seating. A cabinet to its left could be the spot you choose as a pantry or even to hold your double oven. Your home, your choice! The dining area looks over the backyard. Finally, a large planter under the kitchen window will add to the beauty of the home when filled with your favorite blooms.

The First Floor, From the Porch

First, when you enter from the front porch, you are in the foyer. A reach-in closet is on your right. The powder room is right around the right corner, too. Then on your left, stairs go down into the basement. Next, and straight ahead, the family room has a fireplace on its right side. Like the recreation room in the basement, the fireplace has shelves on its left. Finally, it also has a door going out onto the covered terrace.

rear elevation

The home is just as beautiful in the back, as seen in the rear elevation above. Since both terraces are covered, basement and first floor, you are adding outdoor living spaces. And being outside is just plain good for you!

   The Master Suite and Bath

First, the master suite opens up onto the covered terrace with a door on the left. Then, walking towards the front of the home, you enter the master bath. A soaking tub and walk-in shower are on your left. Two sinks and the toilet are on the right. Finally, a comfortably-sized walk-in closet will hold all of your seasonal clothing and accessories.
