The Baneberry Plan, an Exceptional Home

The Baneberry Plan, an Exceptional Home by Living Concepts, is a cottage by design. However, the home is expansive and beautiful, with three floors (basement, first, second) and room for a growing family to expand. The covered porch extends across the front of the home. Cedar shakes and stone adorn the exterior.

The two-car garage is on the right. Another garage bay is on the basement level. The cupola, a small domed feature on the roof, has a complementary weathervane. Dormer windows stretch across the front and the back of the home. Let’s go ahead and explore this beautiful home starting with the basement.

   The Basement

First, the garage bay (single car) is on the left side of the basement. Straight ahead, you will find the door that leads to your mechanical storage. Then, on your left, there is room for a cabinet that stretches the length of the wall, from the door going into the home to the outside wall. Once inside, the office/guest suite with its own bath is on the left side. The guest suite has a walk-in closet. The bath includes a walk-in shower, sink and a toilet. It also has a small closet for your bath linens as well as a door that goes outside.

Next, in the middle of the basement, there is room for a kitchen, an eating area and a recreation room. The kitchen has an island with a double sink and seating. Against the right wall, you’ll find room for your refrigerator and range (both stovetop and oven). The separate eating area is in the back right corner of the room. Finally, the elevator and the stairs going up are tucked away in the back corner.

   The Rest of the Basement

First, after eating, you can walk out onto the covered veranda. The view from the back of the house is simply stunning.

This expansive terrace is designed for entertaining. It even has a built-in grill in the corner for those parties where barbecue is a necessity. Then, around the corner outside, you will find stairs that take you to the first floor. Next, the in-law suite and bath are on the right side of the basement.

This suite is even larger than the guest suite on the left side of the home. The in-law suite has a large walk-in closet. The bath has two sinks (separated), a toilet and a walk-in shower. Finally, a small closet will contain those extra bath essentials. Now, let’s go up to the first floor.

   The First Floor

First, let’s start on the covered porch. Morning coffee or tea on your front porch? Yes, please! Then, stepping inside, you are in the foyer. A few steps more with a sharp turn on the right, and you have found the elevator, as well as steps going up to the second floor. On the other (right) side of the elevator, there are steps going down to the basement. Walk straight ahead to get to the family room.

On the left wall, a fireplace is flanked by shelves. On the right, however, a counter is open above to allow for extra seating when dining. Next, at the far end of the room, two doors allow you to step outside onto the terrace. Finally, there are also outside stairs on the left that will take you back to the basement.

  More of the First Floor

First, if you enter by the two-car garage on the right, you will notice shelves on both your right and left. Then, immediately on your left, there is a reach-in closet and the laundry room. There is enough room in here for your large wash and dry appliances as well as a utility sink. Next, walk straight ahead from the garage and another reach-in closet is on your left. The powder room is on your right.

The remainder of the right side of the home is for planning meals and dining. For instance, next is the walk-in pantry (on the right side). Then, the kitchen, hearth room and casual dining rooms are deliberately planned to enhance your dining experience. There are two islands in the kitchen-one is rectangular and the other is a half-oval shape. The hearth room is straight ahead. Its fireplace is on the left wall. The casual dining room juts out to the left. Looking at the rear elevation, however, you will see it on the right.

   The Master Suite

Lastly, the master suite and bath are on the left side of the first floor. First, the master suite has a door going out onto the terrace. It also has a door into a short hallway on the right. This gives the homeowner more privacy, keeping this area totally enclosed. This hallway also has a reach-in closet. Then, a third door goes into the master bath. Inside the master bath, there are two sinks, separated by a vanity area.

Beside each sink, there are cabinets underneath. Next, there is a walk-in shower, a toilet and a soaking tub. Finally, the door from the bath takes you into the walk-in closet. An island here can hold your valuable jewelry or your sweaters. Your home, your choice!

   The Second Floor

First, upstairs there are three additional bedroom suites. There is also a bonus room above the garage. From the bonus room, you enter the loft. On your left, the elevator has stairs on the right side. Then, each suite has its own bath and walk-in closet. Each bath has a shower/bathtub combination, a toilet and a small closet to hold bathroom essentials. Finally, bathrooms for suites #3 and #4 have two sinks each while suite #2 has one sink.
