Recently, I heard a thought about nurturing, and to both a gardener and a rose, be. To care for, encourage growth and blooming, allow yourself to be cared for, tended – continue the cycle of life, being the seed and the shade….is a life truth. Frank Snodgrass, of Living Concepts House Plans, has brought you Lynworth, a home where you can tend to it, and be cared for in it.
Tend and Grow – Lynworth
Doesn’t this look like a house you want to build for yourself and family mindfully? This charming French Country-style home has little to no overhang, steeply pitched roofline, and uses natural building materials. Typically, a French country home has wandering floor plans in an asymmetrical house design. You’re sure to find a favorite spot to plant yourself here, with over 3600 sq. ft, 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and 2-stories of space to make your own.
This home begs you to have a lovely landscape that will envelop you with color and texture every time you pull into your 3-car garage. The arched front windows raise their eyebrows in anticipation of your coming home to enjoy the life you create within its walls.

Homes that offer wonderful indoor and outdoor living are ideal. We can take advantage of nature and spaces in every season and in any mood Mother Nature brings right? Come in, I’ll show you.

Foyer, Study, (a surprise) and Dining Room
Your foyer is more ‘walk through’ than a space for objects or pictures on the walls. Why? Well, a study to the left, and a dining room to the right open wide into the foyer. Let’s talk about the study because even a space you pay bills and work in, can be delightful. You’ll want your desk facing the front of the house. Here’s the surprise: a door from your study leads outside to your own private courtyard! A little table and chairs for a mid-morning snack or a nice lunch and a chaise lounge for a short afternoon nap would fit perfectly here. Add pots of flowers for color and beauty and enjoy your mini hideaway.
Back into the house, let’s cross the foyer to the dining room. The dining room also has an opening to a hallway that is right across from the kitchen. A big front window will bring in nice light during the day. A long wall is ideal for a sideboard to house your serving platters and special dishes.

Gathering Room, Kitchen and Outdoor Entertaining
From the foyer, walk straight ahead into your large gathering room. Here you will enjoy entertaining, watching a favorite tv show or napping, this is the place to be both gardener and rose. A fireplace and bookshelves take up one wall. The opposite of this ‘wall’ is a staircase to your second floor. There is a covered lanai just outside with access from the gathering room and the eating area of the kitchen. Surely, you’ll find solace here in any season when evenings are just a bit cool or the weather less than your ideal
The breakfast area is large so go ahead and get a long, sturdy table with bench seating. Meals made with fresh produce from the real garden you plant will be a sweet addition to any meal. Just plant something. Is it raining or is the sun shining high and strong in the sky? It’s ok. Walk out the double doors from your eating area to your screened porch. Yes, you have the best of all worlds, covered dining on the lanai and covered/screened dining means you can enjoy whatever area suits your mood and the weather.
The kitchen brings you plenty of counterspace and a large island so let your inner (or outer) chef shine! If you make lemon-laced sweet tea, and pound cake, invite the neighbors over to chat – nurture time well spent with others.

Pantry, Powder Room and Laundry and Garage
Think of these spaces as ‘border plants’, they frame and add interest. Pass the dining room and you have a walk-in pantry! This is the hidden flower on the plant. Cleaning supplies, cookware, cookbooks, and extra ingredients will get along in here, as should all plantings in your ‘garden’. To the right of the pantry and out to your garage entry, a closet, powder room, and laundry room are located. The laundry room has ideal counter space and a utility sink. You can easily add under or over-counter storage and rods to hang objects to dry.
Out the door (near the laundry room) and into your 3-car garage is like having an open plot of space. Having three separate bay doors gives you lots of garage options. Make a bay for work-out space, your boat, your convertible, a great area for more counters/cabinets for tools/garden implements – whatever makes you happy. There is a utility door from the garage to the outdoors.

Master Suite
When you’ve come in from outside and need a rest, your master suite can be your soft soil. A place to rest and yet, rejuvenate – soak up your necessary nutrients (quiet, calm, alone time), so you can grow and bloom.
The main bedroom area is large and has windows angled to the backyard. A door to the screen porch is a bonus when you can’t sleep, want to sit out and listen to the world around you (like during a thunderstorm, or to hear buzzing bugs, a soft, reverberating “hoot “from an owl), or enjoy a morning cup of coffee. The master bath has a long double-sink vanity. A soaking tub and shower, as well as a separate space for the commode, will put your creative thinking into high gear. A linen closet too can turn this space into a relaxing spa. With a large walk-in closet, you will have room for all your clothes, shoes, and baubles. Consider high and low hanging rods and an island with drawers for jewelry and watches. This closet can be all you need it to be.

Upstairs
People should be like sunflowers. Where there is warmth and light, we should follow and relish in it. At night, like the sunflower, we should shift and turn back, looking to face another day of following the sun. Tend to your home, and make it a warm haven for others and yourself. A gardener and a rose you should be.
Upstairs, you have three rooms for friends and family. Two of the suites have a jack-n-jill bath. The third suite is next to a bathroom. In the front right corner is a “you’ room. This space is a teen hangout or where you meditate, paint, play music – whatever feeds your soul. Sow and reap, reaping, and sowing will make your home a haven for all…..put the care into it and you’re sure to get care from it.
Now, go to the Lynworth plan page, and with excitement, hit the green “Add to cart” button and start sowing the seeds for the home you’ve always wanted.
Make this your own. Welcome Home.
