Somersby
“..And the meadows gleam neatly, as though brushed, by a comb, and the night bird sings sweetly – There’s no place like home.” – Glen Campbell
Welcome. There is no place like home and I’m eager to show you around. My lovely shell and strong bones offer you 3,338 square feet, 4 bedrooms and 3 ½ baths in a charming 1.5-story home designed by Frank Snodgrass of Living Concepts House Plans. I am called Somersby (D-3338), you can just call me warm, comfortable and your end-of-day rest. Yes, my Low-Country style has commonly been a coastal and resort home plan found in the South. However, my concept promises satisfaction in daily living, exciting visual impact and relaxing comfort. My style has been built all over America.
Somersby – Open Wide
You can’t ignore my glorious front façade – it is lined with tall, wide windows, ready to bring in sunlight and everything else Mother Nature provides. See my stairs, that flare out wide from the covered front porch, like my arms waiting to hug you and bring you in? Notice my 5 dormers on the second level and charm of dentil molding running the length of my entire front. Charming right? I know you think your teeth have more dental function than my dentil architecture, but I don’t believe that. You need your dental care and I need my dentil charm – again, this is classic and part of my exciting visual being. Come in, my full glass front door, with glass transom and side lights, is open.
Somersby – Smile
This is my foyer where I want you to smile. You are home. I offer you stairs to the second story as well as entrance to your dining room and a study/living room. Imagine the meals, memories, laughter, tears and everything in between we’ll share here. I’m here for you and we will get through anything. I bet a strong, wood dining table would look good here. Chairs should be comfortable and sturdy. Across the foyer to the study/living room, sit at your desk, facing the windows. Again, sturdy furniture but not heavy and intrusive-looking works here. When you sit, don’t feel like you are working. See, you like my view from here and you are smiling. Now, add your chaise and a small side table for books and a lamp and you have a great space.
Somersby – Eat/Function
Straight through the foyer, I offer you a morning room and kitchen. The morning room is ideal for daily meals. There is a small pantry in this area too for your cookbooks, cooking staples and baking needs. I look forward to all the smells and delicious creations you’ll make in the kitchen. There’s a nice wet bar here for your fancy coffee machine and favorite evening nightcap prepping. There is a door off the morning room that leads to your laundry room and 2-car garage. The garage has ample space for a workbench, hanging cabinetry and your tools.
Somersby – Breathe
From your kitchen, you’ll head into the family room (on the right side, and with more of my bright windows). The fireplace is a nice focal point, right? What cool artwork will you put above it for all to enjoy? A soft, comfortable sectional is ideal here. I want you to sit and breathe. While Downton Abbey’s Highclere Castle does not intimidate me, perhaps there is something else on PBS or sports you can watch?
Somersby – Rest
On the most left-sided space in the house is where I offer you rest. Quiet. Again, I bring you more of my ‘eyes’ in bright, large windows. Here, is your respite. Your master suite. With a tray ceiling, you’ll enjoy the feeling of larger space. The room is plenty big for a luxurious bedroom suite set. Add 2 chairs and small table in the middle so you can enjoy the nightcap you made just before retiring for the night. Yes, I understand the need for closet space, so I’ve brought you two walk-ins! I want this right for you. Then, enter your master bath. Separate vanity sinks will ensure no one has to deal with another’s messy sink or bottle of fragrance left out. Your daily shower will be fine, but a nightly ritual of deep tub soaking is right here too. Remember, I said I got your back. Rest. Leaving your respite in the morning, you’ll pass a powder room on the left while you head to the kitchen for your morning cup of “hello”.
Somersby – Upstairs
Now, I expect you’ll spend most of your time downstairs, but this upstairs space is pretty cool too, if I say so myself. I offer you 3 suites and a large bonus room. 3 dormers make sure that whoever, whenever is up here, nature comes right in. While suites 3 and 4 share a large jack-and-jill bathroom, there are 2 separate vanities. I am so glad to have sliding doors to the bathroom from each suite. This is more aesthetically pleasing than doors that swing into each room. Suite 2 has its own bathroom, ideal for an older child or guests that appreciate privacy. The bonus room is so big. This is a great movie watching space, exercise area, or shared spaces (divvied up, of course) for your bookclub/wine club/crotchet club gatherings and his sports/hunting or puzzle doing activities. There is a lot of walk-in attic space – for your safety and easy in storage. No matter your wants and needs, I have it here for you.

Through it all, I’m here with you. Make me your own. Welcome Home.
