“ I am rooted, but I flow”. – Unknown
What does the word cascade evoke in you? Thoughts of rushing waters or the peaceful sound of a waterfall? Movement? Flow? Well, in Frank Snodgrass’ hands, this Cascade plan is just that. There is movement, there is flow. There is ease. This bungalow-style home, with 1.5 stories, 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths in just shy of 2100 square feet, brings you the open, flowing feeling for ideal ease in living.

From the moment you drive up to this home, its covered porch welcomes you to sit on a rocking chair and relax. The strong columns frame the space for hanging potted ferns. A window box for colorful flowers by a front window will add the homey, bright feeling you enjoy. Let’s go in and look.

Dining Room and Butler’s Pantry
Right away you step into a large dining room. You could use this as a sitting room if you prefer. Long, solid walls can anchor shelves, large television, and seating, or set up a round dining room table. Again, plenty of wall space for a sideboard and pictures can make this a charming place to entertain your family and friends.
The stairs to the second story are here as is a butler’s pantry to the left of the room. This pantry is handy for more storage, a wet bar, and a sink area. Your pantry flows between the dining room and kitchen. On the right side of the dining space are a closet and a doorway that flows into the kitchen as well.

Kitchen, Eating Area, and Laundry
The kitchen brings you enough counter and cupboard space. Under the backside of the stairs, a nice pantry has been created for kitchen staples and dishes. A large angular island holds your sink and dishwasher. With a raised side, you can include bar seating or a great ledge for the potluck meals you might host. The island looks toward the gathering room and the breakfast area. The flow is open, but spaces are designated and comfortable.
Across from the kitchen pantry is a powder room.
The breakfast area can be formal or casual. If this is the only dining area you have (if you turn the official dining room into another purposed space), there is a nice window to let light in. Also, a door to your laundry room is here. The laundry room has a utility sink and a solid wall for shelves if you want them.

Gathering Room and Garage
Flowing from the breakfast area to the gathering room, a door out to your back stoop, and the detached 2 car garage. The gathering room has a fireplace and built-in storage. Maybe you have bench seating with under-storage on one side of the fireplace and floor-to-ceiling shelves on the other side that offers form and function.
From the back door, you can build a pergola or trellis to cover the space between the garage utility door and your back stoop. Your two-car garage is still handy and conveniently located to the house, making this Cascade plan, a great option for a long, narrow lot.

Master Suite
Back in the house, walk toward your dining room, and to the left, you find the nook and doorway entry to the master suite. The bedroom sits on the front right side of the house with the master bath between the bedroom and gathering room. This bedroom has a large front window and two smaller side windows. Plenty of wall area will fit dressers and perhaps a chair angled into a corner.
Walking to the bathroom, you will be happy to find two walk-in closets. Keep seasonal clothing separate, or keep a partner’s clothing away from yours. No matter what you need, there is space. Another door opens to the functional bath space. With two separate single-sink vanities, you won’t elbow bump anything or anyone while brushing your teeth. A shower is in the left corner, a soaking tub in the middle, and to the right is the commode. This bathroom brings you all that you need, so make it spa-like and the refreshing room where you can begin and end your day.

Two Suites and a Bathroom
Up the stairs is where your guests will stay when they visit. There are 2 bedrooms up here, each with a double-door entry closet. If you need office space, you could use one of these for that purpose. The bathroom that is between the bedrooms is not jack-and-jill style. It does have a double sink vanity, a linen closet for spare sheets and towels, a tub, and a commode. The spaces offer just what is needed for comfort and function.
