Landsdowne A – Traditional Beauty

Landsdowne – Traditional Beauty

“Style gains attention but tradition gains respect..” – Unknown

I don’t know who said this, but it is true.

Landsdowne, this beautiful single-story traditional home offers you perfect daily living with almost 3,800 square feet of comfort.  This home is the ideal size for both entertaining and being manageable for your life and family.  With a home that is spacious and comfortable, your four bedrooms and three full bathrooms will surely be a favorite place for family and friends. Frank Snodgrass of Living Concepts created this beauty with such space and function, you won’t miss any stairs to a second level.

The curb appeal of this home is oozing a welcome in, right?  The arched dormer windows, the wide expanse of the front view, and plenty of tall windows will flood the home with light and freshness.  Let’s go look, this is an exciting home.

 Main Bedroom Suite

Yes, I want to start here because it is such a wonderful area. I think a double-door entry into a bedroom, already, says so much.  For me, this alludes to a ‘feeling’, it creates ‘curiosity’ as to what’s on the other side, and anticipation that something special is about to be revealed. Well, this bedroom is special.

As you walk into this bedroom, notice the octagonal tray ceiling.  Drama already, right?  Double doors out to the large deck are here too.  Another door leads out to the octagonal-shaped sitting area, with a fireplace, that is also accessible from the back deck. I know you’re thinking this room is so much more than a place for sleeping.  It’s a bedroom plus! Double doors to the bathroom open to a spa-like feel if you want.  Is there a soaker tub with jets?  Yes, if you want.  Is there a separate shower with multi-heads and options?  Yes, if you want.  Is the walk-in closet functional?  Yes, you can make it work best for you (I would put a small refrigerator in the closet). And, yes, the vanity has two sinks.  The toilet has its own little space as well.  Now, dream of the colors and textures you want – what ‘feel’ speaks to you?

Suites Two & Three

Since we’re walking the house in a ‘backward’ way, let’s talk about the two other suites by the master now.  The tall windows in each will let in wonderful sunlight and good views of grey skies that send messages of ‘stay in bed all day and read’ vibes.

There is a Jack -and-Jill bathroom (located between the bedrooms to share), with pocket doors to each room. The double vanity is nice and with full undercounter cabinets, gives you room for all you need here.  Each bedroom has a closet, but not a walk-in.

Just outside of these bedrooms is a closet that can store extra bedlinens, bath towels, toiletries and some cleaning supplies.

Foyer, Dining Room and Living Room

Now we’re back to the ‘center’ of the home – the foyer. A wall for a pretty table and a mirror, or a bench with under-storage can be a traditional look or, go for bold paintings in traditional colors of navy, crimson, hunter greens, and beige, or traditional soothing blues, creams, and greens.

The dining room is open and the sense of space is created by pillars to ‘mark’ the area.  Perhaps a warm-hued rug and round table and chairs is your style here?

The living room is across a hallway from the foyer and dining room.  Like the dining room, pillars ‘mark’ the space.  This is a wonderful living room.  Is your style open and airy?  Do you like dark woods, heavy materials and ornate details?  No matter what you want in your surroundings, this is the room for that.  A fireplace is the anchor and the rest is up to you.  Are you hosting a book club night?  Poker night? Is yours the house for holiday gatherings?  Don’t worry, as this room is the center of the house, it is also spacious and ready for a few friends or a crowd.  There is a set of double doors here that lead out to the large deck outside.

Kitchen, Eating, and Gathering Room

From the kitchen to the gathering room, you might feel it is one long space.  Well, it is – but it’s a smart open-plan space.  The kitchen does have a pantry and enough space for cabinets and long counters.  A long island with a cooktop is also a second eating area for casual breakfasts, quick lunches, or drinks and appetizers while you’re waiting for dinner to finish.

The eating area has a bay window, and ideally, this becomes the seating area for one side of your kitchen table.

The gathering room can be the cozy, quiet room you’ve always hoped for.  No tv, no fuss.  This area is for talking, reading, writing, just watching the area around you and soft colors and textures to enhance the feeling here.  However, you can make it a space for tv, a mini-party space if you like to be involved in what’s going on while you are in the kitchen.  Make it a space that brings you and your family joy.  A single door in here also leads out to the deck.

Suite Four, ‘Service area” and Garage

From the kitchen, a hallway towards the front of the house takes you to ‘where all else happens’.  A fourth bedroom with a full bathroom and walk-in closet can be just that, or perhaps it is the space for an office?

The laundry room isn’t very big, but you can install shelves or a few shorter cabinets and under storage.

A closet just outside the laundry room is perfect for umbrellas, shoes, and hooks for coats.

There is a long wall here, so maybe a bench sits here too.

I know I said this is a single-story home, and it is, for living.  There is a stairwell that leads to an attic space, but that’s it.  No other rooms/living areas are ‘up’.

You have a three-car garage and room for storage in a closet or a long workbench on the back wall.  A utility door leads outside and will bring in a nice breeze when the weather allows.

Landsdowne – Traditional Beauty

This house has it all.  It’s traditionally classic.  It has elements of great form and function amid comfort and living ‘the life’ daily.  This is Landsdowne-A.  This can be yours.  There are many Traditional homes on Living Concepts website.  Take a look, call them.  They are here for you and the home of your dreams.
